The AROH Women's Empowerment Project was recently featured in Peace Corps Uganda's "Volunteer Stories" when AROH's Peace Corps Volunteer submitted her "Success Story." Excerpted from the article: " 'I nicknamed my goat Bakuseka Majja* and now I have many new friends from different villages because of this goat project.' -- Mwandha Zalika (Member of AROH Women's Empowerment Project) *Bakuseka Majja. This Lusoga proverb translates to mean, 'Although in the beginning people may harshly laugh with skepticism at my endeavors, I will succeed and prove them wrong.' I chose this quote because it summarizes the group consciousness provoked from this project. I believe the hearts and minds of the women have opened towards pride, perseverance and friendship."
