We have some exciting news. A Peace Corps volunteer working with the women of AROH reports that they have started to create some beautiful sewing projects, including some unique, hand-made quilts. Most of the fabrics are found only in Africa so these are truly one-of-a-kind. The women have been using the profits from the sale of these quilts in local markets in Jinja to pay for school fees, cover medical costs, and to buy more nutritious foods for their families. They are hoping to expand their markets as they gain skill and speed in crafting the quilts. If you are interested in buying one of these quilts ($50 each) and helping to support the women and their families, please e-mail us to let us know. Alan Locke will be traveling to Uganda in November and has volunteered to bring back as many as he can. If there are too many, other arrangements can be made. Here are a few more pictures for your enjoyment: Kale! |
